You receive a Stop error message and a Windows Server 2008-based or a Windows Server 2003-based computer restarts unexpectedly

Symptom

On a Microsoft Windows Server 2008-based computer or a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running Hitachi Dynamic Link Manager Software, you receive a blue screen with one of the following Stop error messages:

0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

0x0000008E KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Cause

This problem happens because the hdlmdsm.sys driver is referencing the MdlAddress pointer, and the MdlAddress pointer has an indefinite value when you flush the buffer for any file on the shared folder.

Resolution

Hitachi has developed a Hotfix that resolves this problem. To obtain this Hotfix, contact Hitachi.

The following driver versions have the fix included for this issue.

05-95-/B and later

6.0.0-03 and later

6.1.0-00 and later

Earlier versions of this driver may have the symptoms described in this article.

 

How to verify your driver version:

Run CMD.EXE and type the following: dlnkmgr view -sys
