CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is not initialized on the computer that is running Exchange Server 2007.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    for /f %s in (‘dir /b *.dll’) do regsvr32 /s %s

Note This command makes sure that all WBEM dynamic link library (.dll) files are registered correctly

  3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
for /f %s in (‘dir /b *.mof *.mfl’) do mofcomp %s

Note This command provides an alternative to rebuilding the repository. The default WMI files have the .mof and .mfi file name extensions.

  4. Restart the computer to initialize WMI.
  5. Install Exchange Server 2007 SP1.
