iTunes For Windows Vista: Unable to Create a New Apple Account or View Account Information

Learn what to do if you can’t create an Apple Account for the iTunes Store or sign in to view information for an existing account.


When you try to create a new Apple Account with iTunes or when you try to view existing account information, this alert appears:

“Could not complete your iTunes Store request. The store may be busy. Check your Internet connection or try again later.”

Make sure the computer’s date is set correctly and that Windows accepts cookies from the iTunes Store.

To make sure the computer’s date is correct:

  1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
  2. Click Clock, Language, and Region and click Date and Time.

Alternatively, click Date and Time from the Classic View of Control Panel.

  1. Click the Internet Time tab in the Date and Time control panel.
  2. Click Change settings.
  3. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
  4. Click the “Synchronize with an Internet time server” checkbox if it is not checked.
  5. Choose any server from the Server menu.
  6. Click Update Now.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK in the Date and Time control panel.
