Connect to the Internet using a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone

You might be able to use a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone to connect your computer to the Internet. First, check the information that came with your phone to see if it can be used as a modem. If it can, follow these steps to set it up:
Note Before following these steps, make sure your phone has exchanged passkeys with your computer. For more information, see Set up a Bluetooth enabled device.

  • Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, clicking Set up a connection or network, and then clicking Connect to the Internet.
  • If you already have an Internet connection, click Set up a new connection anyway.
  • If the Do you want to use a connection that you already have? page appears, click No, create a new connection.
  • On the How do you want to connect? page, click Dial-up, and then follow the steps. Make sure you select the Bluetooth enabled modem (your phone).
  • On the Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP) page, in Dial-up phone number, type the carrier code or phone number.
  • Contact your mobile service provider for the required ID (or user name), password, and carrier code or phone number.
