Audio stops if Driver Verifier is set to verify ks.sys using Low resources simulation

Action

You are playing audio using an application such as Windows Media Player on Windows Vista or Windows XP while using Driver Verifier to verify ks.sys with the Low resources simulation option.

Result

Audio may stop functioning until the system is rebooted.  No error messages are presented.

Cause

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the Applies to section.

Resolution

Do not run Driver Verifier on Microsoft’s ks.sys driver.
