SYMPTOMS

In Windows Vista, you open a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation that uses a special font. If the font does not exist on the computer, the presentation displays two lines instead of one line.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Apply hotfix 966311. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  2. Set the GELUseGDIChooseUnknownFont registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Office 12.0 Common
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
    4. Type GELPrefs, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click GELPrefs, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    6. Type GELUseGDIChooseUnknownFont, and then press ENTER.
    7. Right-click GELUseGDIChooseUnknownFont, and then click Modify.
    8. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    9. Exit Registry Editor.
